We recently suffered a Powercut at home and although my PC will still boot up and work it takes almost an hour?

Work Boot
Dogger asked:

I have noticed that the usual ’smooth’ whirring of the hard disc is now more of a ’stutter’ or ‘tick’.

Once the system is booted up it then takes up to 15 minutes to open an application and 1 to 2 minutes to move between pages etc etc.

Is there anything I can do?

Was your computer running when this happened? if so your hard disk might have suffered a little damage. I would suggest setting a day aside to back up your files and replace the hard drive. Since you said that its all “stutter”ing now, i assume that its the culprit. Good Luck!!!

you need something like Acronis True Image or any Ghosting/Imaging software and “Clone” your existing drive over to a new one … the stuttering clicking noises are never a good sign … but for sure you need to backup any files … music/pics/docs … that are important cause your drive could fail any second
