Which manufacturer makes the very best hiking footwear? What styles have you tried and what’s your opinion of them? I’m up to buy a new pair of shoes and a new pair of boots, and I want to get an idea of which ones give the legs the biggest sense of enhanced energy, or steppin’ power. Alright, I’m on a quest for some serious, rugged, knee high, waterproof boots. I just got a job in Hawaii, which will have tough terrain due to past lava flows and a wet/hot climate. I’m also going to have to do a lot of hiking in these boots. Anyone know of any comfortable and not disgustingly expensive boots that would work for me?

i want to buy a pair of boots, but since their suede, i’m concerned with their utility during the winter. if i apply suede protector on it, will it help it become waterproof? if so, would i have to apply the protector everytime before i wear it?
