It is rubbed into the boot like a paste.It is very thick and you would apply it with a cloth.My grandfather swore by this to water proof the boots for winter and hunting season.

I like to use neatsfoot oil. I paint it on with a brush. It soaks in quickly and you don’t have to heat the boots. You can buy it most places that sell outdoor supplies. Silicone waterproofing liquids probably work well, too, but I stick with the old traditional.
Not sure but try cabelas.com, they may have it.
Bear Grease is usually found at the base of the bear’s tail but good luck getting any!
